It's unfortunate but mortals and immortals cannot be together! It causes pain for both. An immortal can go for periods as long as a century in secluded cultivation. That to him is like a year but for a mortal that's their entire life span. Han Li acted in the best interest of Mo Caihuan even though it may not seem so. Those pills are very valuable for a mortal. She can basically sell them off and attain a fortune enough to live on for her entire life. They also slow down the aging process for a mortal so she can also use it to prolong her life. Han Li didn't want Mo to live a miserable and lonely life waiting for him to return with all the uncertainties of the immortal path. He knew she would be happier if she found someone, settled down and had children like normal humans.

Han Li loves Mo Caihun. However, at this point in time he is just too weak. He can't protect her if they are together. Eventhough he doesn't look for trouble but he has powerful enemies. Especially the major war is coming and those cultivators would come after her. He has no choice but to swallow his heart. And he is very merciful and considerate. He doesn't toy with her heart. Back in those day if a girl lost her virginity she wouldn't be able to get marry. Mo is a very lovely girl who would have many noble men comes after her. He is hoping she would marry one of those guys and they would give her the happiness that he can't. But she would have no chance if she lost her virginity.
